PSG Plan to Bring Back Xavi Simons but Faces Contractual Hurdles : Report
Paris Saint-Germain is looking to bring back Xavi Simons next summer to prepare for the post-Mbappé era. However, there’s a contractual hurdle in their way.
According to an agreement made when Xavi Simons’ buy-back clause was exercised last summer, PSG will have to pay bonuses to PSV Eindhoven. As a result, the Parisian club does not have full control over Xavi Simons and will only have it in 2025, according to sources close to the matter.
Despite this, PSG seems determined to bring back Xavi Simons, and Leipzig’s sporting director, Rouven Schröder, admitted that it would be difficult to keep him for another season. It seems unlikely that a loan for a second season will be possible.
Rouven Schröder said, « We have always said that we are very happy that Xavi is here. At the end of the season, he will return to Paris, as planned, and then we will have the opportunity to ask again this summer to keep Xavi. » However, he expresses doubts about the possibility of retaining the player.
