On RMC’s “The After” show, journalist Fred Hermel asserts that Zinedine Zidane was set to become PSG’s coach in 2022 before changing his mind 24 to 48 hours before signing the contract.

Fred Hermel drops a bombshell, suggesting that Zinedine Zidane was on the verge of becoming Paris Saint-Germain’s coach in June 2022. However, a turnaround allegedly occurred within 24 to 48 hours before signing his contract. The French Football Federation (FFF) is said to have promised him the succession of Didier Deschamps as the head of the national team after the 2022 World Cup.

As a result, PSG had to quickly turn to an alternative option, and Christophe Galtier subsequently took over.

PSG Inside Actus, which confirms this information from Fred Hermel, states, “At the time of Kylian Mbappé’s contract extension, the management would have promised the French forward the arrival of Zinedine Zidane. This promise could have influenced Mbappé’s decision not to extend his contract until 2025,” claims the X account.
