PSG’s « Loft » Players Happy with Mbappé, Management Unmoved

Kylian Mbappé has rejoined the group of unwanted players at PSG: the atmosphere is… good, according to Le Parisien.

Are the PSG loft residents happier than the first-team group? According to Le Parisien, there are smiles among players like Draxler, Paredes, and Wijnaldum. While the atmosphere was described as tense in Asia, everything seems to be going well around Mbappé.

“It is largely thanks to Kylian’s presence as a leader that everything is going so smoothly,” reveals a close source to the group. The source adds that the loft members are training under fairly similar conditions to those of the first-team.

Kylian Mbappé is now training “alongside about ten players whom the club does not plan to use this season (Wijnaldum, Paredes, Draxler, etc.),” adds L’Equipe.

Within the club, the belief is that there is no justification for his reintegration, since nothing has changed. Mbappé does not want to extend his contract despite several options being presented to him, including a definite sale in 2024 in case of an extension.

Discussions between Nasser al-Khelaïfi and the player’s entourage have been nonexistent for several weeks, and this situation seems likely to continue. “Internally, the management remains determined, even stating that they are ready to not play him at all. This is a way to put pressure on him, by raising the threat of a blank season while the player has his sights on the Euro and the Olympics next summer,” states L’Equipe.
