When Paris Saint-Germain began rebuilding their squad last summer after a generally disappointing 2022/2023 season, despite winning the French league title, only four players were deemed unsellable, according to Le Parisien.

Unsellable, but only four players. PSG genuinely aimed to change everything this summer by selling several key players, including Neymar, Messi, and Verratti.

The club wanted to retain a core group, with Kylian Mbappé as the number one priority. Captain Marquinhos, who extended his contract until 2028, was one of the four pillars chosen.

Achraf Hakimi was also part of this list, considered a key piece for the future, especially in a position where finding good players is challenging. The fact that he is friends with Kylian Mbappé reinforced this choice, as noted by Le Parisien.

The fourth player was more surprising: Gianluigi Donnarumma, the Italian goalkeeper under contract until 2026. PSG aimed to rebuild around this foundation.
