Following Marquinhos, Presnel Kimpembe has extended his contract with PSG under a new bonus structure.

PSG is gradually implementing its new contract formulas. Since the arrival of Luis Campos, Paris has been offering contracts with options and bonuses. Marquinhos signed such a contract, Marco Verratti did the same before moving to Qatar, and now Presnel Kimpembe.

This contract includes a slightly increased fixed salary but with performance-related bonuses based on the number of matches played.

According to Le Parisien, Marco Verratti found it challenging to accept, “especially as he was often plagued by physical setbacks.” However, he eventually signed the contract.

Kimpembe also accepted, fearing that his contract might expire while a return to competition was likely in the spring. According to Le Parisien, the contract was signed “with a fixed salary that increases by one million euros compared to the previous one and bonuses that can significantly inflate his income.” However, there is also an obligation to undergo surgery again, according to some sources.

“Paris has thus opted for a fixed, potentially evolving, remuneration over the contract’s duration, with the addition of a tiered system featuring the first bonus activated after 15 official matches played, followed by a second once the 30-match milestone is reached.”

Luis Campos’ goal is to have players invested in the project, at least through financial incentives. PSG also needs to navigate the constraints of financial fair play, and the bonuses included in contracts are seen as an effective means of regulating expenses.
