Kylian Mbappé’s future is once again at the center of rumors. While Real Madrid plans to make a move on January 1st, the same cannot be said for Liverpool.

The possibility of Mbappé joining the Reds seems to be already over. Liverpool has reportedly taken a step back. According to information from Florian Plettenberg, a transfer market specialist for Sky Sport Germany, Liverpool has distanced itself from the deal and is currently applying no pressure to convince Mbappé to join the Merseyside club.

At the moment, Real Madrid appears to be in the lead. The Spanish club aims to submit an offer as early as January 1st. The player will be free in six months, giving Real Madrid a clear path to negotiate without involving PSG.

However, according to Sky, PSG’s leadership is currently calm about this situation, partly due to the financial guarantees in place in the event of Mbappé’s departure from the club. The player has indeed forfeited millions in bonuses to take the time to make a decision.
