As of the stroke of midnight on January 1st, Kylian Mbappé is a free agent.

He can now engage in talks and negotiations with any club independently of PSG. While he remains under contract with PSG for the next six months, FIFA regulations now permit him to negotiate directly with clubs without PSG’s involvement.

In the Premier League, clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, or Liverpool are reportedly interested. In Spain, Real Madrid is, of course, a prominent suitor. The Spanish club has given Mbappé until January 15th to make a decision. After that, the door will close (permanently?).

On PSG’s side, there is still hope for a contract extension. The team has been shaped according to Mbappé’s desires, making a departure a significant setback for PSG, even though the club appears to have prepared for this eventuality. Will there be a surprise signing in June if Mbappé decides to leave?
