Kang-In Lee at the Asian Games: PSG’s Gift to Itself

PSG is allowing Kang-In Lee to participate in the Asian Games (late September – early October): a decision based on his military status.

Kang-In Lee’s circle is elated and relieved. PSG has granted permission for its Korean player to take part in this competition, even as a busy September looms with matches against OM and Dortmund. “We are grateful to PSG for handling the situation this way and assisting the player. Everyone is happy,” said the player’s entourage.

The player is also expected to compete in the Asian Cup in January. Both of these competitions are crucial for Kang-In Lee: if he wins either of them, it could significantly shorten (by a few weeks) his mandatory military service in South Korea, which is typically required before the age of 30 and lasts for 18 months. He might even be entirely exempt.

He still has eight years to fulfill his service, and PSG’s contract is for… five seasons. So, the interest is just as much for the player as it is for the club. It’s time to move on quickly…”
