Marco Verratti’s move to Qatar came as a shock to many PSG fans and some executives as well. During the Social Football Summit, Javier Tebas criticized this sale, suggesting that it was a maneuver by PSG to bypass financial fair play regulations.
“There are operations in Europe that are not clear. This summer, Verratti was transferred for 40 million euros to a Qatari club with 25,000 spectators. There are indications that make us think we need to save financial fair play; we need to avoid certain situations,” stated Liga president Javier Tebas, who continues to be outspoken against PSG.
