While Ousmane Dembélé has not yet given his final approval to join PSG, it seems that the deal is close to being completed. The player is expected to sign in the next few hours if all goes well. However, the sudden change in Dembélé’s decision was triggered by a proposition made by Barcelona to include him in an exchange deal for Kylian Mbappé, which did not sit well with Dembélé.
“Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is leading the final discussions directly with the player and his entourage. Although negotiations with the player are not yet concluded, and there are still some details to finalize, Paris was celebrating the prospect of attracting such a talented French player. In this case, the final ‘yes’ is still pending,” reports L’Equipe.
The issue for Dembélé does not stem from his relationship with Xavi, which has always been very smooth. According to those close to the player, the 2018 World Cup champion was more concerned with recent reports that Barcelona had proposed to include him along with Gavi in an exchange deal for Kylian Mbappé. This proposal did not align with the private discussions led by Xavi regarding Dembélé’s significance to the team.
