In an interview with Brazilian media outlet Globo Esporte, Deco, recently appointed sporting director of FC Barcelona, addressed Neymar’s (31 years old) situation: his return was im-pos-si-ble.
Neymar returning to Barça? Maybe in two years, but this summer, it was simply impossible. According to the new sporting director, Deco, the club didn’t have the means. Neymar ultimately chose to join Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
“Nowadays, everyone is aware that, unfortunately, considering our financial situation, making such a transfer was entirely unrealistic. Such an operation would have required an agreement with PSG or an arrangement with Gulf clubs, which didn’t materialize. Due to the club’s financial situation, this option was never feasible,” stated the Portuguese.
