PSG Targets a Star Striker Alexander Isak, but Arsenal Is Also in the Race.
The PSG attack has lacked a true number 9 this season, with Dembélé and Doué filling in at center-forward. But Luis Enrique wants a world-class striker for next season, and Gonçalo Ramos could either serve as a backup—or be sold.
According to The Mirror, PSG and Arsenal are both pursuing Alexander Isak, the Newcastle United striker who has been outstanding in the Premier League this season.
Newcastle’s Champions League Ambitions Could Block a Move
Newcastle is pushing for a Champions League spot, making it unlikely they will let Isak leave. The club has reportedly set a massive €180 million price tag, which would make the Swedish striker the third-most expensive transfer in football history.
While this figure wouldn’t necessarily scare off PSG, who previously broke records with Neymar and Mbappé in 2017, Newcastle’s UCL qualification could keep Isak in England.
However, if the Magpies miss out on the Champions League, a lower fee might be negotiated—but PSG and Arsenal have been warned: signing Isak will come at a massive cost.
