Nuno Mendes Will Not Participate in the PSG/Monaco Trophée des Champions in August in China

The Trophée des Champions is set for August, but PSG already knows it will be missing one of its key players. Nuno Mendes will be suspended for the Trophée des Champions. The Portuguese left-back received three yellow cards in less than ten matches at the end of the season (Montpellier, Lorient, and Metz). His suspension will be served during the first official match of the season, which is the Trophée des Champions.

Monaco will also be shorthanded. Midfielder Mohamed Camara has been handed a four-match suspension for hiding the logo for the campaign against homophobia on his jersey during the last Ligue 1 match against FC Nantes. He was also absent from the pre-match photo where both Monaco and Nantes teams posed in front of the campaign slogan. Wilfried Singo received a yellow card during the penultimate Ligue 1 match against Montpellier. He was under a two-match suspension plus an additional suspended match, resulting in an automatic suspension for the first match of the next season.

The Trophée des Champions is scheduled for Thursday, August 8, in Beijing, China. The date will be officially confirmed next week during the LFP Board meeting. “The organization hesitated between August 8 and 10, but barring any last-minute changes, decided to schedule the match for Thursday, August 8, at 8 PM local time (2 PM in Paris),” reports L’Equipe.

PSG will conduct its summer tour in China. The club has previously visited China for three Trophée des Champions: in 2014 in Beijing against Guingamp (2-0), and twice in Shenzhen, in 2018 against Monaco (4-0) and in 2019 against Rennes (2-1).
