In a press conference before the Euro Round of 16 match against Belgium on Monday (6 p.m.), Kylian Mbappé (25 years old, 81 caps, and 48 goals) discussed his feelings about wearing a mask. And it’s not great…

French team striker Kylian Mbappé, who suffered a broken nose, has to wear a protective mask during the upcoming matches. However, it’s not ideal for optimal performance, as he admits.

“I didn’t think it would be, but playing with a mask is an absolute horror,” confessed the French international. “I changed masks because each time something was wrong. It’s difficult, it’s really complicated because it limits vision, the sweat gets trapped so you constantly have to take it off to let it flow. In the first days, I felt like I was in 3D and that I was a VIP guest at the Euro. I saw people and it felt like it wasn’t me playing. So it’s complicated.”

“As soon as I can take it off, I will take it off. For now, I have no choice, I can’t play without it but it’s annoying. You’ve seen it, I’ve changed masks five times. And still, not all the photos are out, I’ve changed even more. But my tournament will be with this, and it will not be an excuse because I can only play like this, so I have to thank the mask,” Mbappé added philosophically.
