Kylian Mbappé with the French national team at the Olympics is complicated: Real Madrid does not intend to let its internationals play in the competition.

The dream of the French Football Federation (FFF) to have Kylian Mbappé and Edouardo Camavinga with Thierry Henry at the Paris Olympics is becoming increasingly difficult in recent days. Real Madrid has clarified that it would refuse to send any players to participate in these events. However, the President of the French Football Federation, Philippe Diallo, believes that there is still hope of seeing Kylian Mbappé with the Olympic team at the Olympics.

While Mbappé has not officially signed with Real Madrid, the President of the FFF stated in Le Parisien that he will put pressure on the Spanish club. “Having the best player in the world in France for home Games would be a tremendous asset. I regret Real Madrid’s stance, which closes the door to a dream for many players. I respect their decision. It is, moreover, the only foreign club to have informed us of this.”

Benzema is a candidate

As for a plan B, Karim Benzema is an option. “I don’t rule anything out, but they have made their position clear. If a door opens before the Olympics, we will push it. At the last Games, the FFF faced 31 refusals from clubs. Our job is to try to have the best possible team. If we need to see Florentino Perez in Madrid, we will do it.”

Additionally, Karim Benzema has expressed his availability. “I am pleased that he wants to participate. It is Thierry Henry’s responsibility to call upon those who can form the best possible team. I think he has seen the hint given by Karim Benzema. It is up to him to respond or not. I don’t see why a great international player, Ballon d’Or winner (2022), would have any veto.”
