PSG vs Barça: Mbappé misses out, Luis Enrique reacts

Kylian Mbappé was a shadow of himself during PSG-Barça. But PSG coach Luis Enrique doesn’t want to blame him.

Relatively quiet (to put it lightly) on Wednesday night during PSG’s defeat to FC Barcelona (2-3) in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final, Kylian Mbappé wasn’t singled out by Luis Enrique, the PSG coach.

“Mbappé? I don’t want to talk about an individual player. I prefer to talk about my work, the coach is responsible for the result, we don’t need to talk about a specific player.”

“I’m the only one who sees all the training sessions, that’s why I have the position, I’m the coach, and I thought that what I had chosen to start with was the best solution to win this match,” explained the Spaniard in a press conference.

“It’s not the result we wanted. We played a very good match. Against a very good opponent. We made the match a bit complicated by conceding the first goal, they didn’t lose the ball, they played well. We managed to turn it around in the second half, we hit the post twice, we could have been 3-1 up. Then they scored the third goal. Everything is still open, we’ll go to Barcelona with a lot of ambition. For us, it will be like a final, we have confidence in the team.”
