According to L’Equipe, PSG players are reportedly worried about their physical condition. Luis Enrique responds to the sports daily’s article.

Is PSG in good physical shape? Not according to L’Equipe. The sports daily asserts that several opponents of PSG have been surprised to see the Parisians struggling in duels this season. This seems to have been an issue for several seasons now, but it appears to be gaining traction internally.

“This topic has been the subject of debates among players since the end of summer, especially among recruits, who were surprised by the lack of daily athletic work,” states L’Equipe, even after Luis Enrique’s arrival.

Several players are seeking a second wind as winter draws to a close. For instance, Manuel Ugarte reportedly openly raised the issue internally, according to L’Equipe. However, this has not led to any changes.

Moreover, several players honestly believe they are physically overwhelmed and unable to perform at their best in big matches. As a result, some members of the squad have decided to hire personal fitness trainers or engage in additional training sessions on the side.

Luis Enrique’s response on Tuesday was clear: the players are professional, more and more so. And this has nothing to do with any concerns. “Players have been using physical trainers, osteopaths… for a long time. If there’s coordination, that seems good to me; the players are becoming more and more professional. The majority have a chef cooking at home,” he stated.

“If I see a player who isn’t at 100%, he won’t play. I transmit to my players how they should approach this profession. Players must be at 100%, otherwise they won’t be in the team. This didn’t happen against Revel, nor Orléans, and won’t happen against Brest,” he added.
