The conflict between Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain persists, as the club refuses to pay the €55 million demanded by the former player, despite a set deadline.
PSG remains firm, indicating its readiness to prolong the dispute and defend its arguments in other jurisdictions. If the amount is not paid on time, Mbappé’s lawyers may escalate the situation to the LFP’s legal commission, UEFA, or labor courts, increasing tensions between the two parties. On Friday, PSG confirmed to Le Monde that it appealed the decision of the commission on September 19.
“By principle, PSG has appealed the commission’s ruling, despite its limited effect. The club’s position is not only legally sound but also a matter of good faith, honesty, and respect for the institution and its supporters, which is more important than any player,” PSG explained, noting that Mbappé rejected the mediation process with his former club.
“The Player Made Clear Public and Private Commitments”
“The Commission had no choice but to rule that a contractual relationship exists between the parties. This point is neither disputed nor contested. What will ultimately be heard by an appropriate court is that the original contract was legally modified and fully respected by both the player and PSG—until the player decided to renege on his commitments by leaving the Club,” PSG continued.
“The player made clear public and private commitments that the club simply asks him to honor, and he has benefited from unprecedented advantages from the club during his seven years in Paris. The club looks forward to these fundamental commitments being respected in the appropriate forum, should the player unfortunately seek to pursue this incomprehensibly damaging case against his reputation,” concluded the club’s letter.
