After testing positive for testosterone following a Serie A match against Udinese on August 20th, Paul Pogba has been provisionally suspended by the Italian Anti-Doping Agency.

His agent, Rafaela Pimenta, reacted while awaiting the results of the confirmatory tests, stating that Pogba never intended to violate anti-doping rules. The results of the confirmatory tests will be crucial in determining the outcome of this case.

“We are waiting for the confirmatory tests, and we cannot have an opinion before the results. What is certain is that Paul Pogba never intended to break any rules,” said Pimenta to RMC.


His club has also issued a statement. “Juventus Turin announces that today the footballer Paul Labile Pogba received a provisional suspension order from the National Anti-Doping Tribunal after the unfavorable results of the analyses carried out on August 20, 2023. The club reserves the right to assess the next procedural steps.” The French midfielder faces a suspension of up to four years.
