Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will have to cope without Nuno Mendes for an extended period as the Portuguese defender is set to undergo surgery.

Lucas Hernandez will remain sidelined for a few more months, as PSG recently announced Nuno Mendes’ impending surgery.

“After further medical examinations and a thorough evaluation of Nuno Mendes’ condition, the medical department of Paris Saint-Germain has decided to perform surgery this Friday in Finland. The player’s estimated recovery time is four months,” PSG stated in a press release.

Mendes sustained an injury during the 2022 World Cup with Portugal and suffered a relapse on April 30 during a PSG vs. Lorient match (1-3). He had entered the game but was subsequently substituted after sustaining a thigh injury to his right leg. Since then, he has not been able to return to the pitch.
