Newspaper Le Parisien revisits the huge foul committed by Lilian Brassier on Kylian Mbappé’s ankle during PSG’s victory in the Coupe de France round of 16 (3-1). It could have been catastrophic.
Kylian Mbappé is tough. And so are his ankles. Or rather, very flexible. According to Jean-Bernard Fabre, a sports doctor specializing in physiology and biomechanics for Le Parisien, Mbappé’s injury could have been catastrophic.
“In cases like this, nine times out of ten, it breaks. Let’s say it’s a little miracle,” assures this specialist in Le Parisien.
“This proves that he has a ligament that is quite flexible because when we see the action, it looks like his ankle is bungee jumping. It’s quite incredible, especially since the knee could have also been affected. If the heel had been planted in the ground, it’s impossible that it wouldn’t break. It’s down to the split second,” says Jean-Bernard Fabre.
The initial examinations were reassuring, but PSG will not take any risks. Kylian Mbappé is expected to miss the Ligue 1 match between PSG and Lille this Saturday. But according to Le Parisien, internally, there is optimism about his participation in the Champions League round of 16 against Real Sociedad.
