Luis Enrique, the head coach of Paris Saint-Germain, is expressing confidence in his team’s chances in the UEFA Champions League.
He asserts that PSG is among the favorites to win the competition this season, emphasizing the importance of performing well in the group stage in September, October, and November, and then maintaining that level in March when the competition resumes.
For Luis Enrique, many top-level teams aspire to win the title, but that doesn’t mean PSG is discouraged. On the contrary, they consider themselves serious contenders for the title and are aiming for this goal.
“The Champions League depends on how you perform from the group stage in September, October, and November, but you don’t play again until March. You have to be at your best to get through the group stage, and then be very good again in March,” he said on the UEFA website.
“There are a lot of factors, and a lot of teams at our level that want to win. That doesn’t mean we feel sorry for ourselves, no, it means we are one of the favorites – call it what you want – in the fight for the title, and that’s our goal,” he added.
“We’ll see what happens later because the competition starts to put the teams where they should be, but in terms of potential, I don’t think there’s a team better than ours, and I really mean it. I think there are many teams similar to ours, and we have to try to approach the tournament by giving our best to have a realistic chance. My approach and preparation are one thing, but having a real chance is another,” Luis Enrique concluded.
