Luis Enrique Promises an Exciting PSG in the Second Half of the Season
Luis Enrique has assessed his first months at PSG and promises that the rest of the season will be very exciting.
Luis Enrique promises a spectacle. “I am very happy and satisfied with these first months, with the energy and desire I see within the club, at all levels. Everyone participates, everyone helps, and it’s a harmony that is important in a football club. We have only completed half of the season; the second half will be very exciting. We still have a lot to play and work more to win titles. That’s our goal. We want to be consistent in performance; that’s our guideline.”
Enrique’s style will prevail. “We are the best team in the championship. We must win Ligue 1; it’s a mandatory goal, and I know it. Our goal is to win, but also to have a playing identity. We need to win while growing the team and the club. This is very important to me and the fans. The more months pass, the more fans will get used to my decisions!”
Change takes time. “We train every day for this. It’s not just about conveying a message; we need to implement the playing ideas and apply them on the field. Players at this level are used to playing with new coaches, but it’s like a puzzle. You have to assemble the pieces, and that’s what we’ve been doing from the beginning, based on the players, connections, opponents… There are many factors to consider.”
Versatility of players. “What I consider important is that we have a squad of great quality with players who can play in several positions, making us very unpredictable for the opponent. Many of my players can play on both sides or in several central positions. Lee Kang-In can play winger, inside, false 9. Kylian sometimes plays inside and outside and sometimes between the lines. Vitinha can play winger, inside, or pivot. Warren can play full-back, inside, pivot, winger. We want to be unpredictable, and we want to become a better team. We aim not to rely on one or two players. It is clear that we have players who are the most important in the team, but playing as a team involves many players being ready. And that involves making changes and giving maximum information to the players.”
