Luis Enrique addressed the coaching staff’s decision to stop attacking towards the end of the match against Dortmund. PSG was already qualified, but the choice seemed to irk Kylian Mbappé.

Mbappé wanted to win, while Luis Enrique was content with the draw. Tensions arose after the match between Dortmund and PSG, but not between Mbappé and his coach Luis Enrique.

“I understand that he is annoyed. But asking them to calm down the game at the end of the match was one of the best decisions of my career. It was normal to say that, just as in the 84th minute, with 1-2 in Newcastle for Milan, I told them not to take so many risks. We went two or three times into Dortmund’s penalty area despite everything, so yes, it was a good decision,” justified Luis Enrique on Saturday.

“It’s not just my decision; it’s also that of my staff. I understand the players, that they are exposed to this frustration. For much of the match, we absolutely had to win; that was the goal. When there was a draw between Newcastle and Milan, we played to win. But at the 88th minute with a two-goal lead, it would have been ridiculous to concede a goal at that moment.”
