Luis Enrique expressed relief after PSG-Newcastle. Not because of the team’s performance, which could have secured qualification with a win, but because, despite the disappointing result, Paris has its fate in its own hands, and that changes everything. A win against Dortmund means claiming the top spot in the group and securing a spot in the Round of 16.
“It’s strange because now we only depend on ourselves. If we win in Dortmund, we’ll be first. But at the same time, with a draw, we can be eliminated. We can even qualify by losing if the other match ends in a draw. We got the ‘group of death,’ and now we understand why. We know that if we go and win in Dortmund, we will qualify as the group winner, so it will be another final, and it’s up to us to play it.”
