After seven years at PSG, Kylian Mbappé is set to leave Paris. He opened up in an interview with CNN.

Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid: just a few more days of waiting. The French striker says he is eager to take on this new challenge.

“The official announcement will be made in a few days. I am still under contract with PSG, I have an employer who pays me. (…) But everyone knows my contract is ending soon and we will see what happens. I want to be happy. It will be an extraordinary experience, and I am looking forward to joining my new club. I want to win trophies. Football is above all about winning trophies,” said the Parisian star in an interview with CNN.

Mbappé reflected on his decision to extend his contract with PSG in 2022. According to him, the World Cup in Qatar played a significant role.

“It was more than just PSG, there was the World Cup in Qatar, there were many things around it,” he explained. “It was a big and difficult decision. It was very difficult for a 20-year-old boy (he was 23, Ed.). But I have no regrets. In a career, you have to make tough decisions, and that’s what I did. After that, I became the top scorer in PSG’s history. I just want to remember the good things. Of course, it was not an easy situation, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.”
