France National Team Squad Announced: Four PSG Players Called Up
The French national team manager, Didier Deschamps, has unveiled the list of players selected for the upcoming matches against the Netherlands (Euro 2024 qualifiers) and Scotland (friendly) on October 13th and 17th.
Here is the list of French players for the month of October, with several PSG representatives. As expected, Kylian Mbappé, Lucas Hernandez, Randal Kolo Muani, and Ousmane Dembélé have been called up.
Deschamps discussed Mbappé’s recent dip in form, saying, « Is it a form slump? He’s not in the best of shape, obviously, reflecting his club’s results, most likely. Kylian, with all he’s capable of, his influence on his team, it has a big impact. Is it due to his summer period where he didn’t have a typical preparation? I have no concerns about Kylian, his desire, his competitive spirit. He himself cannot be satisfied with what he’s doing. Even when he does things well, he wants to do better. There are still matches this weekend and the two matches with France. »
Regarding Dembélé and his lack of efficiency, Deschamps stated, « If, in addition to all the things he does very well, this ability to dribble past opponents, he adds greater efficiency… If we take yesterday’s match as an example, both his left-footed volley and his shot in the box were good gestures, it was a matter of inches. It can happen that he has a bit less precision in the final touch or in the box. If he could convert everything he does into goals, it would carry even more value, more weight. I don’t take away from him, and he knows it well, this ability to unsettle the opponent. Naturally, it requires effort, these are sprints with an elevated heart rate. Having the lucidity and technical accuracy after an effort is a bit more difficult. But he knows very well that he has room for improvement in this aspect. »
