Ekitike’s Struggle: Navigating Exclusion at PSG
Hugo Ekitike is going through a challenging period at Paris Saint-Germain since the end of the transfer window.
Despite the club making it clear that they do not see him in their plans and attempting to convince him to join Eintracht Frankfurt in a swap deal involving Randal Kolo Muani, the player refused to leave.
According to Le Parisien, under his contract, PSG is obligated to provide him with the training conditions of a professional footballer. Therefore, Ekitike continues to train with the main squad on a daily basis, including the day before matches, despite his marginalized situation.
« To compensate for the lack of competition, Ekitike has hired a fitness coach, with the number of sessions varying based on PSG’s schedule. »
However, the situation remains stagnant. « He feels that a turnaround is impossible, » Le Parisien reports.
Ekitike is sidelined by both Luis Enrique and the management. « In private, PSG executives have extensively discussed the reasons for this exclusion: they believe his refusal to join Frankfurt would have complicated Kolo Muani’s arrival. A highly questionable version, as the German club has never shown a genuine desire to sign Hugo Ekitike. »
