Champions League: PSG’s Worst Campaign Since 2004

Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League campaign this season is disappointing, to say the least. The statistics don’t lie.

After five matchdays, PSG is in second place in its Champions League group. Qualification for the Round of 16 is still possible after the draw against Newcastle (1-1) this Tuesday.

However, PSG has only accumulated 7 points. This is its lowest total at this stage of the competition since 2004-2005, a distant era preceding the arrival of the Qataris, where PSG was eliminated before the knockout stages with only 5 points, according to Opta statistics.

Nevertheless, PSG will finish at worst in third place and will therefore play (at worst) in the Europa League. However, a victory against Borussia Dortmund on December 13 could propel them to the top of the group, truly living up to the “group of death” moniker.
