Barça President Joan Laporta Comments on Kylian Mbappé’s Move to Real Madrid. The Catalan Club Plans to Do Things Completely Differently.

The intense rivalry is about to become even fiercer. Barça, struggling with unprecedented economic difficulties, watches as Real Madrid shines and strengthens even further.

Joan Laporta, the president of FC Barcelona, slightly envious, found a clever way to address the situation in his communication: he made it clear that he does not intend to emulate Real Madrid’s methods to strengthen his team. He refuses to join the race for extravagant spending and galactic signings, which has been the hallmark of the Merengue club in recent years. Although Mbappé joined Real Madrid on a free transfer, it was accompanied by a signing bonus of 100 to 150 million euros. Not to mention the almost complete transfer of image rights to the player, a first for Real Madrid.

“As a Barça fan, it’s not the best news to see Mbappé sign with Madrid. But I prefer Barça’s philosophy with La Masia and the development of our players for the future,” Joan Laporta commented sarcastically. However, he still would have loved to have Mbappé on his team.
