“20 days of bleeding and vomiting”: Gonçalo Ramos’ shocking testimony

Gonçalo Ramos was struck by a mysterious virus last winter: he opens up about his rough patch.

Gonçalo Ramos sidelined for several matches. Rumors circulated about a punishment from Luis Enrique. But it was not the case. The Portuguese was simply ill. Very ill indeed. The player was severely affected by a virus at the end of 2023. PSG did not specify the nature of this virus.

The PSG player opens up to Record. “I had a tough December. It started with a virus, which then turned into a colon infection. I spent 20 days bleeding and vomiting, unable to eat, and with very high fevers.”

“I ended up going to the hospital four or five times and was put on intravenous drips. I lost eight kilos and I was in the midst of adapting to life in France, so this ordeal didn’t help,” he said.

“It was difficult to regain momentum”

“Then, I had to regain weight in the middle of the season, doing preseason in January, which is not easy. I was a bit lucky because it’s a quieter month in terms of competitions, but it was difficult to regain momentum after losing so much weight.”

“I started on December 10 and didn’t train until the 21st. I had a setback at Christmas, went to the hospital, and only came back on the 30th. It was upon my return on the 30th that I started training at 100%.”
