According to L’Equipe, the public stance taken by PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi did not sit well with Kylian Mbappé, leading to further strain in their relationship.

Letters, ultimatums—the situation between PSG and Mbappé is becoming increasingly tense, with this being the latest episode. During the presentation of Luis Enrique, the PSG President was firm: either extend the contract or be sold.

“By asserting that Mbappé had committed to ‘never leave for free,’ it clearly irritated him. Mbappé apparently does not entirely recall such a promise. He remembers PSG pushing hard last summer for him to commit until 2025, even having him pose with a jersey bearing that date, which he consistently refused,” explains the sports newspaper.

“A rupture is nearing, and Mbappé is well aware of it. While this attitude may discourage him from extending his contract, it does not affect his desire to remain in Paris for this season, as already expressed during the last gathering of the French national team,” advances L’Equipe.

What’s next? Mbappé is expected to return on July 20th for training and is ready to play in the first matchday of Ligue 1, scheduled for the weekend of August 12th against Lorient at Parc des Princes, and “much more,” as assured by L’Equipe.

With one goal in mind: to sign for Real Madrid next summer. However, the club “currently lacks the financial resources to make an offer that would convince Paris to sell their striker.” A total impasse, it seems.
