Kylian Mbappé announced his departure from PSG on Friday. However, the announcement of his arrival at Real Madrid is still pending.

While it is widely expected that Mbappé will join Real Madrid, no official announcement has been made yet. Despite Real Madrid already securing the Spanish championship title, they are reportedly waiting until after the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on June 1st to formalize their new signing.

According to L’Equipe, this official announcement is unlikely to occur before June 3rd, but it will be made before the start of the Euro, scheduled in Germany from June 14th to July 14th. Fred Hermel, a specialist on Real Madrid for RMC, explains the reason behind this timing.

“There is a protocol to be followed when you go to Real Madrid. From what I have discussed with some executives, I know that Real Madrid especially does not want to humiliate PSG in this matter. They want it to be done properly. We know that when Real Madrid brings in a player, they prefer that the player himself handles the departure. Real Madrid never wants to appear as the villain who came to poach, negotiate behind the scenes,” explains Fred Hermel.
