NBA x PSG: Could Paris be getting its own NBA team? According to Le Parisien and Bloomberg, the Paris Saint-Germain ownership group is seriously considering joining forces with the NBA for a groundbreaking European basketball project.
NBA in Europe: PSG at the Forefront
The NBA is in advanced talks with several major European clubs — including PSG and Manchester City — to launch a new basketball league on the continent. The ambitious plan, backed by FIBA, could be unveiled as early as the 2026-2027 season, marking the most significant international expansion in NBA history.
Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), PSG’s owner, has confirmed it has been approached. Two options are on the table: buying out an existing club, such as Paris Basketball, or creating a new franchise from scratch under the PSG brand.
Announcement Expected Soon
The NBA is targeting cities with strong football identities and global brand appeal. PSG, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich are among the key names being considered to carry this European expansion. The initiative would leverage these clubs’ global influence and fan bases to establish the NBA’s presence on new ground.
An official announcement could come soon. A key NBA owners’ meeting is scheduled for March 27, where the first steps of the project may be confirmed. With backing from Jordan Brand and investment fund Arctos (which holds a 12.5% stake in PSG), the French capital is a serious contender to become the NBA’s European hub.
A new era of sports fusion may be about to begin — one that blends the glamour of the NBA with the global power of PSG.
