Olympique Lyonnais has lodged an official complaint with the French Professional Football League (LFP) regarding Khvitcha Kvaratskhelia’s participation in their recent 3-2 loss against PSG.
The club questions the legitimacy of the Georgian forward’s transfer and eligibility to play, according to l’Equipe.
OL president John Textor claims that PSG’s acquisition of Kvaratskhelia was facilitated through financial practices that violate the league’s regulations on foreign subsidies. In a formal letter to the LFP, he argued that the player’s registration did not comply with administrative rules.
Citing Articles 556 and 560 of the LFP rulebook, Lyon points out that if a club is found guilty of breaching player eligibility regulations, they could face a match forfeiture.
However, the complaining team does not automatically gain the points. The LFP’s legal commission will now review the case before making a ruling.
