LOSC head coach Bruno Genesio has made it clear that his team will not travel to the Parc des Princes just to defend. The northern side intends to play their game and aim for victory.
On Saturday, Lille will face Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain in one of the standout fixtures of matchday 24. Aware of PSG’s dominance in possession, Genesio has ruled out an overly defensive approach.
“Keeping possession at the Parc des Princes will be difficult. This season, only one team has managed to do it, and that was Bayern Munich in the Champions League. But our goal is to use the ball wisely and maintain some level of control despite their intense counter-pressing.”
Far from simply absorbing pressure, Lille aims to rely on its technical qualities to challenge PSG.
“The idea is not to come to Paris, park the bus, and just concede as few goals as possible. We want to play our game whenever we have the chance.”
With this bold approach, Lille hopes to trouble the Parisians and deliver a more open contest than expected.
