The match between Paris Saint-Germain and Lille, scheduled for March 1st as part of the 24th round of Ligue 1, could have been postponed. However, while Lille is pushing for a rescheduling, PSG is against it.
PSG vs. Lille, a clash between European contenders, is causing scheduling issues. Lille requested a postponement to better prepare for their Champions League Round of 16 match against Borussia Dortmund on March 4th, while PSG will face Liverpool shortly after on March 4th or 5th.
The LFP might have considered accepting this request, particularly since Liverpool will have a full week of rest before their match. If the game is rescheduled, LOSC would remain without a match for nearly two weeks after facing Monaco this Saturday.
Scheduling conflict and standoff
But PSG is not in favor. “The capital club, surprised by this late request from LOSC on Friday night, stated that they had anticipated such a scheduling congestion weeks ago in case of qualification for the Champions League Round of 16.”
“Paris explains that they had requested their Coupe de France match be moved to Tuesday, a proposal rejected by France Télévisions, according to PSG. At the same time, the Parisian management also asked to move the match against Lille to Friday, which the LFP reportedly denied.”
