Mbappé Avoids the Bench and Ends Up in the Stands… Luis Enrique “Didn’t See Anything”

Kylian Mbappé was substituted at halftime during Monaco-PSG. After the match, coach Luis Enrique stood by his decision.

The latest Mbappé incident. Substituted at halftime, Kylian Mbappé didn’t join the PSG bench, preferring to go up to the stands alongside his mother. A snub in any club, especially considering the player was wearing the captain’s armband. But Luis Enrique stands by his choice.

“It’s 100% a coach’s decision. I think sooner or later, we need to get used to playing without Kylian Mbappé. It’s my decision, and it’s a decision I make with the goal, in my opinion, of getting the best for the team,” he said in a press conference.

“I didn’t see what was happening off the field,” he added, growing irritated when journalists pressed on the topic. “I’m not going to get into that game. I’m a professional and I’ve already answered your colleague, and I continue to answer in the same way: there’s no problem for me, it’s just a question of management and how I manage the team to the best of my ability,” he said, as reported by L’Equipe.

“The presence of Mbappé in the stands in the second half? I didn’t see what was happening off the field. That’s part of the football show, and my show concerns what happens on the pitch,” he later added on Prime Video.
