John Textor, the new boss of OL (Olympique Lyonnais), believes that Ligue 1 lacks interest, partly due to PSG’s dominance.

During a colloquium organized by the Financial Times on the business of football, American owner of Olympique Lyonnais, John Textor, stated that PSG was too strong in Ligue 1. “We need rivals. Who will be interested in the French championship and watch it on TV if we already know who will win?” he exclaimed.

“Everyone is fighting for second place; it’s the same team winning every year.” Other clubs “are competing with a government, not with a private company. I say to PSG president, Nasser (al-Khelaïfi), privately and sometimes publicly: Is anyone having fun? Why do you like this?” he added.

And what about Lyon? The club languishes in mid-table. According to John Textor, this is due to a strategic mistake. The OL boss regrets “not making changes during the summer” in his squad. “Making changes during the season is really difficult,” he concluded.
