Following Jürgen Klopp’s announcement on Friday, Xavi, the coach of FC Barcelona, has decided to take the lead by announcing his departure from the Catalan club at the end of the season. Luis Enrique comments on the decision of the German coach.

Another top-tier coach is leaving, feeling weary. Xavi will leave Barça at the end of the season. This decision comes after the defeat against Villarreal (3-5) in La Liga.

Xavi hopes to breathe new life into Barça by ushering in a new cycle. As a reminder, the Catalan club is eliminated from the Copa del Rey and qualified for the Champions League round of 16, currently occupying the 3rd place in the league standings, 10 points behind the leader, Real Madrid.

“Before you ask me the relevant questions, I would like to announce that I will not continue to coach Barça after June 30. We talked about it with Laporta and with the sports management. As a Culé, I think the club needs a change in dynamics. As a Culé, thinking about the club and the players, I think they will be liberated and calmer. As a club man, I think the best thing to do is to leave on June 30. That said, I will give everything I have for the remaining four months. I think we can have a good season, and I hope the dynamics will change,” said Xavi.

Fatigued, coach Jürgen Klopp has also decided to leave his position on the Liverpool bench at the end of the season. A decision that Luis Enrique fully understands.

“He said it himself; he no longer has enough energy, and after nine years, it can be understood, even if it’s a shame. He has achieved great performance. Coaches are overexposed, and it’s exhausting. Sometimes coaches need to rest too. I think after nine years at Liverpool, it’s normal to need to recharge the batteries before going after another challenge,” said the PSG coach.
