To replace Sylvain Ripoll, Thierry Henry has been appointed as the head coach of the French Under-21 national team. This choice has received approval from Jérôme Rothen on RMC.

Titi Henry leading the young French players to victory? Jérôme Rothen believes in it. Thierry Henry will be the coach of the team for the 2024 Olympics and subsequently for Euro 2025.

“It’s a fantastic idea,” approved the RMC consultant. “When you have someone like Thierry Henry, with all that he represents in France, who wore the national team jersey… People might have forgotten, but he was a World Cup champion in 1998, and he even went back to play for the Under-21 team afterward. It shows the humility he had. The other candidates? None of them matched up to Thierry.”

“There’s an important aspect, the relationship with the new generation and young players. At Monaco, he had disagreements with experienced players, but with the young ones, it went very well. His message resonated and the young players have good memories of that time. With the image and aura he possesses, there’s no reason why he shouldn’t succeed. His mission is to do better than Sylvain Ripoll. Forgive me for thinking that he will do better than Sylvain Ripoll! (…) It can’t get any worse,” commented the former French international.
