Retired Gianluigi Buffon, the former goalkeeper of Juventus and PSG, believes it’s time to change a football rule: the size of the goals, according to Tuttosport.

An ex-goalkeeper advocating for more goals, Buffon supports a change in the dimensions of football goals to increase the entertainment factor. “We’re talking about widening the goals, and I think we could start thinking about it. The dimensions have been the same since 1875, and maybe they were too large at the time, but today, looking at some goalkeepers, it makes you think.”

“The effect of the goalkeepers’ size is evident in long shots: 30 years ago, 10 goals were scored for every 50 shots, while today, there are only three. From a distance, it is very difficult to score against a goalkeeper who is two meters tall.”
