Kevin De Bruyne (32 years old), who has played only one match in the Premier League this season, will face an extended absence with Manchester City.

Suffering an injury during the victory against Burnley (3-0) last Friday, the Belgian midfielder will not be available for “several months,” as announced by his coach Josep Guardiola during a press conference on Tuesday.

“A decision about potential surgery will be made in the coming days, but it’s certain that we’ll have to do without Kevin’s services for a substantial period of time,” stated the Citizens’ coach.

Kevin De Bruyne is unlikely to play again in 2023, as the decision seems to have been made. According to DH les Sports in Belgium, the Belgian is set to undergo surgery for his new hamstring injury. Manchester City is taking measures to prevent any further relapse, and doctors have recommended this option. He would miss several months of competition but should be ready for Euro 2024.
