Luis Fernandez, former coach of PSG, believes that QSI (Qatar Sports Investments) does not treat the club’s former members very well and provides a specific example.

Luis Fernandez was awarded the Legion of Honor in July 2022. He will receive his decoration on February 22nd at the City Hall of Paris. However, he wanted to organize this event at the Parc des Princes. Unfortunately, PSG rejected his requests: “I tried everything to organize it at the Parc des Princes.”

“They offered me a lounge for 20 or 30 people, without access to the stands. So, my guests would not have been able to attend the match. I won’t leave them on the sidewalk. And then, I will invite between 150 and 200 people: former members of the French team, former PSG players, my friends, my family… PSG had no solution. Everything was complicated.”

“If they really wanted to, they would have done it”

Luis Fernandez believes that PSG lacks consideration for its former members. “Yes, I am disappointed because at PSG, recognition for former members does not exist. I realized this on the evening of PSG-Milan. I wanted to enter the VIP area to show it to an Italian friend, and I was denied access (…) The Parc des Princes was the ideal place.”

“This is where my story began with PSG and the French national team. I imagined a stage to thank the public… But it seems that you should not touch the pitch… I waited several months and stopped insisting. If they really wanted to, they would have done it. When they want to do things well, they do them very well; they know how to allocate resources.”

“They offered me to receive a Legends trophy. I said OK, but on the evening of PSG-OM! I feel like I’m causing them a problem. But I don’t want to cause problems for anyone. I just want to do things right. The City of Paris offered, we will do it there, it will be good.”
