PSG – Nantes: The LFP must decide on the rescheduling request, as Nantes strongly opposes the move.
With Champions League quarterfinals against Aston Villa scheduled for April 9 and 15, Paris Saint-Germain has requested to postpone its Ligue 1 match against Nantes, originally set for April 12.
However, FC Nantes has firmly rejected the request, citing its own competitive interests in a letter sent to the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP). The matter remains unresolved, and the LFP must now make a final decision.
According to L’Équipe, LFP President Vincent Labrune has advocated for PSG’s case, sending a message to league administrators to consider Paris’ European ambitions.
Nantes Fights Back: “We Won’t Sacrifice Our Season for PSG”
Nantes made its stance crystal clear, issuing a firm response: “We have learned that PSG is asking the LFP to postpone its Matchday 29 fixture against us, originally scheduled for the weekend of April 13, to April 22 or 23.”
“While we fully support PSG in the Champions League, we cannot accept sacrificing the end of our domestic campaign for them.”
“As everyone knows, the relegation battle in Ligue 1 is fierce. We cannot allow the LFP to compromise the fairness and integrity of the league by altering our upcoming schedule.”
The final ruling from the LFP is expected by Monday. Will PSG get its way, or will Ligue 1 integrity come first?
