PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has faced a turbulent February, marked by his indictment in the Lagardère case and tensions with several Ligue 1 executives over TV rights negotiations, given his role as CEO of beIN Media Group.
After rumors surfaced about Qatar potentially withdrawing from France following his legal troubles, Al-Khelaïfi addressed the speculation. In an interview with Welt am Sonntag and Bild, he confirmed that Qatar is shifting its investment focus to other regions.
“If you look at how Qatari businesses and individuals are treated in France, it’s clearly not objective. And if you pay attention, we have been gradually disengaging for several years now to invest in more welcoming and fair environments.”
According to L’Équipe, Qatar is set to announce a major project in the coming weeks—one that will exclude France. Speculation is mounting that Qatari investors might even be preparing a takeover bid for Tottenham Hotspur.
