PSG vs Liverpool: A high-stakes clash, but many Reds supporters will be absent. A significant number of English fans are unwilling to set foot in Paris.
The Parc des Princes is gearing up for an electrifying European showdown between two in-form teams. As usual for such major occasions, the stadium is expected to be sold out.
However, many Liverpool supporters are opting out of the trip. Memories of the 2022 Champions League final chaos at the Stade de France against Real Madrid remain fresh, and some fans prefer to avoid another visit to Paris.
Paris Still Feels Unsafe
“I will never set foot in that city again. I was stuck at the entrance turnstiles, then caught in the chaos with gangs and the police after the match. I’ve never experienced anything like it.”
“When the draw was made, my heart sank. I felt sick thinking about going back to Paris for football. I’m glad Paris 2024 went well, but I believe Olympic fans are treated differently from football fans,” several Liverpool supporters told Le Parisien.
Despite the prestige of the match, the trauma of 2022 still lingers, making this a notable boycott by a section of the Reds’ fanbase.
