FC Barcelona is already planning for the future and has Alexander Isak in its sights as a successor to Robert Lewandowski. Despite the Polish striker’s impressive stats (31 goals and 3 assists in 33 matches), the Blaugrana are looking ahead.
According to journalist José Alvarez, Isak is Barcelona’s top priority for the summer transfer window. The Swedish striker is excelling in the Premier League, with 17 goals and 5 assists this season for Newcastle United. He could initially complement Lewandowski before eventually replacing him.
PSG Joins the Race
However, Paris Saint-Germain has also made Isak its primary target to reinforce its attack in 2025, according to PSG Inside Actus on X.
But signing him won’t be easy. Under contract with Newcastle until 2028, Isak won’t come cheap, with his price estimated at around €75 million—a significant sum for Barcelona, which is still in financial recovery, and also a major investment for PSG, which must comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
A Strategic Decision Between Paris and Barcelona
The sporting project will be crucial in Isak’s choice. Under Hansi Flick, Barcelona is competing for the La Liga title, has reached the Copa del Rey semifinals, and is in the Champions League Round of 16—an attractive setup for an ambitious forward.
However, Barcelona’s financial uncertainty remains a factor. On the other hand, PSG has a stronger financial position, which could tip the scales in their favor.
A heated battle between two European giants is brewing for the talented Swedish striker.
