Video assistant refereeing (VAR) could undergo changes in Ligue 1 in the coming months.
French refereeing officials are considering expanding the use of VAR. Faced with numerous controversies, the use of this tool could be broadened. Currently, the referee only reviews the footage if VAR has doubts or requests it.
In the event of a protocol change, the idea would be to allow the referee to consult the footage at any time for penalty decisions, red cards, or to confirm a goal.
