Last Friday, the public prosecutor of Nice, Damien Martinelli, requested a one-year suspended prison sentence and a fine of 45,000 euros against Christophe Galtier in the case of accusations of discrimination and moral harassment.

Christophe Galtier will not be convicted. The former PSG coach was accused of discrimination and moral harassment during his time on the bench at OGC Nice.

However, this Thursday, the correctional court of Nice decided to acquit the French coach, stating that neither discrimination nor moral harassment were established in this case.

Speaking to RMC Sport, Me Martin, one of Galtier’s lawyers, reacted. “It’s a sigh of relief. For many months now, the odious accusations against Christophe Galtier had caused significant damage in his personal life and professional career. We were living in a situation of anguish. This decision, we want to see it as not only an acquittal but also a total rehabilitation. Let calm return for Christophe, his loved ones, and his family. This decision is also satisfying for the defense. We were able to deconstruct the offenses unjustly defended by the Public Prosecutor, namely discrimination and harassment. We were able to demonstrate the manipulation that had been carried out and the instrumentalization that had been made of certain situations or statements, with the avowed goal of harming the man and the professional reputation of Christophe Galtier (…) This decision is a call for a salutary order. Justice is rendered in courtrooms, in the context of a adversarial debate, with magistrates. It does not take place in late-night talk shows or on YouTube by pseudo-incompetent journalists.”
